Following the breakdown of his marriage to Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes has kept a low profile in the press. However a spokesperson for Mendes today confirmed that he has been dating actress Rebecca Hall, commenting "It's true, they are in a relationship."

Mendes first met Rebecca, daughter of Sir Peter Hall, on the set of the 2006 film Starter For 10 for which he was an executive producer. The pair strongly denied any romantic involvement during Mendes' marriage to Kate Winslet.

Mendes and Kate Winslet - often billed as one of Hollywood's 'Golden Couples' - were married in 2003 and have two children together. They announced their split in early 2010.

Rebecca Hall, an accomplished stage actress, shot to fame in 2008 with the quirky romance Vicky Cristina Barcelona, directed by Woody Allen. The Cambridge-educated actress is currently starring in The Awakening, a horror film, alongside Dominic West and Imelda Staunton.
