Actor Lili Reinhart – who stars in Netflix’s Riverdale as Betty – has taken to Twitter to defend herself and her co-stars from an “inappropriate” fan.
According to the fan’s original tweets, the admirer spotted Reinhart and the Riverdale cast while hanging out in Vancouver – and, being “kinda drunk”, she decided to approach them.
“I kinda approached Cole Sprouse [who plays Jughead] in a friendly way, as if I knew him,” said the fan. “That’s just my personality, though. I’m just friendly like that.
“The p***k was like, ‘who the f**k are you?’ and was just so rude, so I walked away.”
Dubbing his behaviour “disgusting”, the fan continued: “If you’re a celebrity, you’ve gotta deal with the consequences. You know you’re signing up for the public to talk to you… [and] you get paid for having fans, so respect them or be nice, at least.”
However Reinhart, spotting the complaint in her social media feed, has since shared a different side to the story.
“You do not have the right to approach STRANGERS and throw your arms around us like you know us,” she tweeted.
“What you did was not cool and inappropriate.”

Cole's response to you was "do I know you?" After you rudely invaded our space and got in our faces.— Lili Reinhart (@lilireinhart) September 4, 2017
It's easy to make us look like the bad guys because you think there's no chance in hell we would ever call you out on it. Here you go 🤗— Lili Reinhart (@lilireinhart) September 4, 2017
Saying the fan “invaded our space and got in our faces”, Reinhart continued: “It’s easy to make us look like the bad guys because you think there’s no chance in hell we would ever call you out on it. Here you go.”
The TV star’s words struck a chord with the online community, who echoed the sentiment that public figures are not “up for grabs” and have as much right to personal space as anybody else.
Yay Lili, good for you for standing up to that girl, some people forget famous people are human beings and act entitled— cc_turner (@Ce12Cc) September 4, 2017
Lili loves her fans, as does Cole, nice reach. It's not cool to invade someone's space and throw ur arms around them if u don't know them— skinny legend toni (@madslili) September 4, 2017

It is not the first time that Reinhart has called out fans via social media.
Earlier this year, the actor shared a photo of herself tucking into a delicious plate of fried chicken and chips. And, as is so often the case, there was someone waiting to make her feel bad about it.

A Twitter user, who has since deleted their tweet, decided to talk down to Reinhart for her choice in meal, saying that they were just so worried her acting career would be overshadowed by her weight.
However Reinhart wasn’t about to let anyone make her feel bad for enjoying her dinner, and she quickly penned a response.
“Thank you so much for being concerned about my weight,” she wrote. “I’ll respond later after my double cheeseburger.”
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
