Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton split

Singer Robin Thicke and his actress wife Paula Patton have announced they're ending their marriage.

The couple, who have been married for eight years, announced the split yesterday.

Thicke and Patton met nearly 22 years ago and have been married since 2005. They are also parents to a son, Julian, who was born in April 2010.

In a statement, the pair said: "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."

The couple's relationship has been dogged by separation rumours for some time now, and the singer was embroiled in scandal after he was pictured grabbing model Lara Scolaro (pictured below).

In an interview with Celebuzz, Miss Scolaro said: "I knew his hand was on my butt. I posted it on Instagram and didn’t notice the reflection. But someone noticed it and commented. I was just like, 'Oh I'll Instagram this photo with Robin Thicke, like everybody else.'"

Thicke was also pictured looking cosy with another woman earlier this month, when he performed at the Club 79 in Paris.

The singer made waves last year with his song Blurred Lines, which has drawn criticism from various feminist groups because of its seemingly misogynistic tone, with lyrics that include "I know you want it". He also made headlines when he performed with Miley Cyrus at the VMAs (pictured below).
