Row over Knox knife giveaway

A magazine that featured a special edition on the Amanda Knox case alongside a giveaway of kitchen knives has sparked outrage on the internet.

Italian glossy Oggi was slammed by online forums for its "poor taste" edition with a tearful Knox, 24, on the cover and the knives as freebies at the back (above).

"I was shocked when I saw the knives were a give away with Oggi and the magazine had Knox on the front cover," one news vendor told the Daily Mail. "When you think that it was a very nasty murder with a knife to have knives given away is I think in very poor taste - although having said that we did sell out of all the ones we got."

Oggi has not yet commented on the freebie, which came complete with a pizza cutter as well as the four black-handle knives.

American student Knox was cleared of the murder of her British flatmate Meredith Kercher in a sensational court ruling in Perugia, Italy, earlier this month.

Kercher was found with her throat cut in the flat she shared with Kercher in 2007. Ivory Coast native Rudy Guede is serving a 16-year sentence for the murder.
