You have to hand it to Ryan Gosling: he knows how to give the people what they want, even when he's slightly taking the piss.
The actor waxed lyrical about family life in a US TV appearance on Thursday morning. He and Eva Mendes welcomed their second baby girl, Amada, two weeks ago. (The pair also have a 20-month-old daughter, Esmerelda.)
“I understand the girl-to-boy ratio in your house is now 3-to-1,” said Good Morning America host Amy Robach. “How’s that going?”
“It’s heaven,” Gosling replied, with a trace of the characteristic sarcasm that we all know and love. “It’s like walking through a field of flowers every day. I live with angels.”
He added: “It’s a ray of sunshine in a dark time, because with Russell [Crowe], really, it’s sad. It’s sad that we’ve turned out this way.”
Gosling and Crowe are currently on the promotional trail for their new movie, comedy-mystery The Nice Guys, in which they play a private eye and hired goon out to solve the case of a missing girl.
By all accounts, the pair actually get on famously. In a recent interview with People magazine, Crowe joked that Gosling had forbidden him from babysitting Esmerelda and Amada, because he was “worried that I’d be teaching his daughters how to make cocktails, the right way to wear a beret – things that he doesn’t want them to know about yet.”
