Ryan Reynolds reveals his daughter's unusual name

After months of speculation, Ryan Reynolds has finally revealed the name of his and Blake Lively's baby girl; James.

The actor confirmed the name during an interview with Today's Willie Geist who asked him if he would finally tell the world what he and his wife named their child.

Initially, the actor joked around that he was going to call his child Excalibur Anaconda Reynolds, and once again in the interview he said that they'd called her Butternut Summersquash, until finally telling the truth:

"No, it's out there. It's James, everyone knows. It's just before it was out there I didn't want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media because, as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls, and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go 'why did you do that?'"

The couple welcomed their first child together at the end of last year at their home in Bedford, New York, although the pair were typically tight-lipped about the date of the birth.

Blake, 27, initially revealed her pregnancy on her lifestyle website, Preserve, in October 2014, however she had already hinted at her impending pregnancy in an interview with Vogue a few months before, when speaking about her husband:

“He’s going to be a great father and leader and patriarch—he’s so meant to be all of those things.”

On her dreams to have a big family, Blake told Us Weekly that it was something she'd always dreamed of: “It’s something that I’ve always wanted ever since I was a little girl. I never knew what I wanted to do for a living but I knew I wanted to have a lot of kids because I had come from a big family, so it was always important to me. So it’s just the excitement of that finally being here.”

The couple got married in a low-key ceremony at the Boone Hall Plantation (from The Notebook, fact fans) in December 2012,  with just 35 guests in attendance. The bride wore a Marchesa gown and the groom wore a Burberry suit. Blake's close friend Florence Welch serenaded the newly weds.
