Heartbreak high: Ryan Reynolds sweetly colludes with teen girl who was dumped

If you ever get dumped, be sure to give Ryan Reynolds a call.

Because the Hollywood actor jumped right into the breach recently, after a teen girl was left hanging by her date - just days after they went to the high school prom together.

Gabi Dunn, an 18-year-old from Canada, invested a whole load of effort into her hair, dress and make-up for the big night of the school calendar.

So, when her boyfriend broke up with her a few days later, she decided to work a little magic on her prom snaps:

“I didn’t want to waste my prom photos, so I just Photoshopped Ryan Reynolds in,” Dunn tells Yahoo Style.

“I kind of have a huge love for Ryan Reynolds, and I wasn’t totally feeling myself on prom day, so I wanted to post my look,” she adds. “Who could be a better prom date than him?”

Ever the sporting type, Reynolds got in on the joke by replying to Dunn’s tweet.

The Deadpool star gave the teen’s dented ego a boost by creating a special hashtag for her – #DontMessWithGabi – as he suggested taking the prank one step further:

Hilariously, someone purporting to be Dunn’s ex-boyfriend took the bait on Reynold’s banter – and vowed not to see his latest movie (a decision which, for someone worth an estimated £50million, surely cuts deep)...

Dunn, who dated her ex for four months, appears to have found the whole episode cathartic.

“It was a bad breakup, but I’m totally enjoying this now,” she says.

And as for Reynolds; well, we can only say that Blake Lively’s husband done good.

We remember well enough that being dumped at school is no picnic, especially at a time when your self-esteem is at best rocky anyway.

But the dad-of-two made at least one woman feel better about herself this week. Hooray for him.
