Sarah Jessica Parker is a woman who knows how to stand up for herself.

The 49-year-old actress has hit back at a cyber bully, who she claimed had been tweeting "vulgar" remarks about the actress and her children.

It all started when relationship expert Sarah J. Symonds tweeted a remark about SJP's children on Thursday:

"So now who do these kids look like? Certainly not like @SJP"

Clearly the remark did not sit well with the star, who hopped on her own Twitter account to fire off a flurry of tweets in response.

While Symonds' tweets have since been removed, SJP was sure to get her point across about the nasty tweets.

Of course, fans of SJP were quick to shower their support for the actress... which the star then thanked in the early hours on Friday.

She continued with a plea to keep her children off limits.

The Sex and the City star is mum to 11-year-old James, and to four-year-old twins Marion and Tabitha, with her husband Matthew Broderick.

Symonds has yet to respond publicly to the Twitter showdown.
