Nearly all of us have dreamt of living in Carrie Bradshaw's apartment at some point, especially if came complete with her walk-in wardrobe and Mr Big on the doorstep...

Now that fantasy has come true for one mystery buyer, who has snapped up the iconic townhouse for a cool $9.85 million (£6.1 million).

This massive sum was landed less than a month after the property hit the market and is $20,000 more than the asking price - an increase no doubt helped by the publicity surrounding the sale.

According to The New York Observer, who first reported the deal, the buyer has decided to remain anonymous and is known only under the name of the realtor, MMKK Perry Street Realty LLC.

However, whoever it is is in for a SATC-style treat. The palatial four-story apartment at 64 Perry Street in New York City boasts five bedrooms and six fireplaces.

The townhouse was central to the hit TV show, with Carrie Bradshaw and co. playing out a string of scenes on its picturesque fleet of steps leading up to the front door. Several lucky dates even received a goodnight kiss from Carrie on that very spot and just as many were spurned.

However the constant flow of tourists to the Sex And The City landmark are said to have become a nuisance for neighbours and the coveted property has sold twice in less than a year.

In 2008, a board of community residents successfully campaigned to bar tour buses from stopping at the address.
