Scarlett Johansson's style evolution

With poise, presence and an effortless air of retro glamour, Scarlett Johansson is a designer's dream.

Ever since she burst onto our cinema screens aged nine, the actress has displayed the kind of timeless appeal that belies her youth. She's grown up in the spotlight but has never looked awkward in it, with a red carpet style that has flourished through numerous hair changes and that teen-to-late-twenties transition that has floored so many others.

Just as directors such as Woody Allen and Sofia Coppola have rushed to cash in on Scarlett's integral acting talent, so the likes of Valentino and Roland Mouret have courted her for her unique, Marilyn Monroe-esque allure.

The 29-year-old is a strong, fearless purveyor of fashion and over the years we've seen her turn heads in everything from ravishing purple Oscar de la Renta to gold and tulle Dolce and Gabbana - one of her favourite names.
