Devoted Sex And The City followers rejoice - for our leader has spoken.

Everyone's favourite on-screen style icon Sarah Jessica Parker, AKA Carrie Bradshaw, has hinted that there's a third SATC film is in the pipeline. At least we hope that's what she meant.

"I think it's a really lovely, wonderful story but whether or not we tell it remains to be seen," the 49-year-old actress said, when asked about at the Cannes Lions 2014 festival.

SJP please say it is so..

"We've never really had real conversation about it, other than that I know there is a story," SJP added.

So do we!

Although SATC 1 and 2 were not hailed as total classics by all the critics - and we do slightly wonder what's left for our four favourite female characters Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte to actually get up to - SJP seems to think there is still some storyline life left in these four and we really want to agree.

We could happily watch them eating lunch all day, after all. Especially if Samantha's had an eventful week, or Big is back, or Aiden.

The actress also touched upon her initial reaction to the show when it first aired in 1998.

"What was lovely is that we produced an entire first season without being on the air so we had no idea, first of all no point of reference, it was a voice that was new and it was slightly subversive and it had a point of view that was sort of singular so we couldn't look at anything else and say if that had success then we might."

She added: "So we produced an entire season and then it was a sort of slow burn. We had to cultivate the female audience and to change the viewing habits."

And for that ladies, and HBO, we salute you.
