He's been a prisoner in Hunger, a sex-addict in Shame and a slave owner in 12 Years A Slave. He's got his next big role starring as Macbeth opposite Marion Cottilard, who plays Lady Macbeth, in the Scottish Play.
And that's before we've got onto the subject of him playing the musician Frank Sidebottom, in Frank, which essentially meant he had to wear a papier-mâché head for a whole film.
Of course, we're talking about Michael Fassbender, the German-born Irish actor, who has made his name working with Steve McQueen, the Oscar-winning director. Most recently, he's reprised his role as the maniacal mutant Magneto, in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
So far so serious. But there is a lighter side to the actor; he's mates with Idris Elba, lives in Hackney, and is well-known for his dancing (if didn't you see that picture of him and Benedict Cumberbatch at the Golden Globes, we suggest you Google it right now).
Here we chat to Fassbender on his upcoming roles and his love of dancing.
