Cate Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton have put their incredible family mansion up for sale ahead of their planned move to America.

And unsurprisingly, it’s sending property moguls and interiors addicts alike into a frenzy.

After buying if from merchant banker Jim Dominguez back in 2005 for AUD$10.2 million (£4.68 million), the couple reportedly spent the following three years completely renovating the mansion.

Property site Domain.com, claims Cate and playwright/director Andrew managed to almost double the floor space of the already sprawling pile, and even added new self-contained living spaces underneath the huge outdoor swimming pool. The home is now on the market for AUD$20 million (£9 million).

Cate’s own brand of quirky cool and minimalist style can also be seen through-out, making for one impressively decorated pad.

The couple, who have been married for 17 years, are preparing to up sticks with their four children and temporarily move to LA, where it's thought Andrew will explore TV and screen writing opportunities, while Cate focuses on her acting career.

Come take a guided tour through the images being used to market the waterfront dream home…

The view

Originally built in 1877, Cate's home - known as a Bulwarra - looks over incredible riverside views and rolling green spaces. We find those lilac blossom trees particularly appealing, too.

The library

Not just an incredibly cool library, the reading room/home office has dramatic double height ceilings, with an upper level 'family area' that opens onto a veranda.

The lounge

The lounge has the cool, calm and collected feel of Cate's impeccably polished wardrobe, with plenty of cosy corners to curl up in.

The hallway

Who doesn't love a spiral staircase? Especially when it's made from custom steel, and winds from the downstairs hallway right the way up through all three levels of the house.

The kitchen

According to the property listing, Cate's kitchen acts as the central hub of the mansion, with its chef grade island, polished concrete floors and long oak dinning table.

The bathroom

We're quite confident that were we ever allowed to take a dip in that tub, you'd never get us to leave the bathroom, let alone the house.

Master bedroom

The house has five bedrooms altogether (below is thought to be the master bedroom), three of which open out onto a veranda overlooking the grounds and sprawling riverside views.

Along with this stunning garden (picnic/family barbecue heaven), the mansion's 3,642sqm of land also includes a pool pavillion with a covered spa and dining pergola, a championship sized tennis court plus a trampoline platform.

Why would they ever leave?
