Taylor Swift accused of “false feminism” by Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario

It’s been an interesting year for Taylor Swift. From winning an armful of awards at the Grammys and publicly slamming Kanye West and enjoying the highs of her A-list-packed ‘squad’ that included the likes of Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Lena Dunham, it all started off pretty well.

But following a public feud with Kanye West over song lyrics and subsequently being exposed by Kim Kardashian in a series of Instagram videos, things have taken a bit of a turn. Swift has even been bombarded by snake emojis on her Instagram feed.

Now Pretty Little Liars star, Troian Bellisario, has criticised the Shake it off singer in an interview with Cosmopolitan.

Asked to weigh-in on the celebrity feud, the 30-year old said:

“Oh god, I have such an aversion to the Kardashians because I literally don’t understand people’s obsession with them and I don’t want to accept them as our closest thing to a royal family, so I guess I would be Team Taylor Swift?”

But Bellisario went on to say that it was picking the lesser of two evils, because she is “appalled” by Swift’s “false feminism”, saying:

“However, I’m so appalled by what I consider to be her false feminism. It seems like she’s this person who’s like, ‘Sisterhood!’ and then she does nothing but tear down the women that were once her friends.”

Taylor Swift has been in a disagreement with Kim and Kanye over the approval of song lyrics

Bellisario is referring to Swift's disagreements with former friends, Katy Perry and actress, Camilla Belle. Swift's hit song, Bad Blood, was allegedly written about her argument with Perry, and was criticised for it's 'girl gang' mentality when Swift invited a group of celebrity friends to appear in the video, declaring war on Perry.

When Swift accused Nicki Minaj for pitting women “against each other,” after Minaj called-out the music industry for racism, Katy Perry exposed Swift's hypocrisy, highlighting that Swift has been making money from a song (Bad Blood) that was about Perry and Swift’s argument thus, herself pitting women against one another.

The tweet was supported by Swift’s ex-friend, Camilla Belle, who the singer once sung was known more for “the things she does on the mattress” than being an actress. Weighing in on Twitter, Belle replied to Perry’s tweet saying “Couldn’t have said it better…”

Sounds like the sisterhood is well and truly absent among the A-list…
