The Ellen Show has finally found a UK home. It will air on ITV2 from 18 January.

British fans of the show and DeGeneres herself have been campaigning to bring the show to a UK channel, using the hashtag #GetElleyOnTheTelly on Twitter. Today the presenter confirmed it had paid off, announcing on Twitter:

She also joked “After what feels like decades of campaigning I’m so excited that my show is on ITV2. I can literally feel my crumpets tingling down in my cockles."

Even if you've never seen The Ellen Show live, it's hard to have missed the hype surrounding the format and it charismatic host since the show first aired in 2003. It has won 55 Daytime Emmys, including nine for outstanding daytime talk show, and earned DeGeneres herself 14 People's Choice Awards.

DeGeneres famously orchestrated that Oscars selfie in 2014, featuring every one of Hollywood's major players - from Jennifer Lawrence to Bradley Cooper. She's also responsible for launching child singer Sophia Grace from Essex into the limelight. And just recently, she has welcomed stars including Hilary Clinton and Amy Schumer to her sofa.

The show will air at 13:45 daily, with new episodes debuting in line with the US running order. This means there'll be a back-to-back schedule of talk shows from ITV, with Loose Women airing beforehand on ITV1.

ITV's Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions Angela Jain commented: "We're over the moon Ellen DeGeneres is joining ITV2. Her daily mix of Hollywood guests, topical comedy and great conversation is a welcome addition to the channel".

The show has been commissioned by producers NBC for four more years, so UK viewers will have plenty of time to get familiar with DeGeneres if they're not already.

Welcome to our airwaves, Ellen!
