Welcome to the Stylist 16, a new format of interview where we ask celebrities a set list of life-affirming, intimate and sometimes random questions.

Today Mena Suvari, self-confessed "rebel freak" and one-time star of the American Pie franchise, talks to us about the world falling apart and her cherished Louboutin collection.

Mena Suvari stars in The Knot, released in cinemas today. Watch the trailer here

1. When was the last time you hid?

I don’t hide. I don’t hide ever. No hiding. I let it all hang out.

2. What’s in your handbag?

Cash. Lots and lots of cash.

3. Do you have any tattoos - if so what?

I do have tattoos on private parts of my body. (Laughs) No, you know, they’re personal. I have gang writing on my back… no I’m kidding. I have a lion, he’s not Simba. He’s on the back of my neck.

4. Sedan chair: good idea or a bad idea?

I was told it was something that you carry royalty around in. So I say, why not? I say, the more the better.

I’m ashamed that my entire shoe collection is not Christian Louboutin

5. What are you most ashamed of?

I’m ashamed that my entire shoe collection is not Christian Louboutin. Unfortunately, I only have a limited amount of pairs of Louboutins. I’m working on that… I’ve got less than 10 pairs.

6. Is the world getting better, or worse?

It’s definitely getting worse. It’s all going to s**t... What, that's not the answer you wanted?

7. Cheese or chocolate?

Chocolate for sure. And anyone who says cheese is just wrong.

8. What was your finest hour?

(Emphatically) Right now.

9. What does feminism means to you?

Strength. It’s all about how you feel on the inside, it’s confidence, it’s strength. It’s taking over the world (laughs)… kidding.

10. Which part of your home do you like best?

I think my living room. I’m pretty often in there. It’s pretty relaxed, there’s a mix of art which I enjoy very much. I have this amazing handmade print I got from Ethiopia, it’s beautiful. I have works by up-and-coming artists and a mix of oil and acrylic paintings. There’s photographs and pottery from places across the world like Mexico, or gifts from friends and I love it – I just put everything on the wall and it’s very modern, a kind of gallery look.

I’m a conscientious home owner. I don’t leave the water on, I have real fresh toilets.

11. What’s guaranteed to make you cry?

The limit on my credit card. No, taxes… that was my answer. Taxes.

12. What do you dream about at night?

I dream of angels. People being good to one another. The world not going to sh**, that’s what I dream of. I dream of flying Louboutins.

13. Complete the sentence: Britain needs more…

Sunshine.

14. Are you a lover or a fighter?

I’m both. It depends on what mood I’m in. I fight for love.

15. Have you left the gas on?

No, I turn everything off. I’m a conscientious home owner. I don’t leave the water on, I have real fresh toilets. I have those energy-saver florescent lights. You know, eco-friendly. I'm very green with my home… not so much with my wardrobe.

16. What question would you like to ask Stylist readers?

Are you living up to your full potential? Every day’s a new day – you have to choose what makes you happy.
