Welcome to the weird world of YouTube, where tutu-wearing child rappers rule and nothing has the power to go nuclear like a pair of yabbering, diaper-clad babies.

With the meteoric rise of cousins Sophia Grace Brownlee and Rosie Grace McClelland in the US this week, there's a lot to be said for the influence of pint-sized stars on YouTube.

Sophie and Rosie found international fame after a frankly genius video of them performing Nicki Minaj's song Super Bass (below) went viral on the channel last month.

Their rousing rendition of the rap tune won them an army of fans around the world, along with an invitation to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The tiara-toting duo went on the programme last week, where they got to meet their idol Nicki Minaj in person, prompting massive media coverage and an even larger online following.

With talks of a record deal in the pipeline, we take a look at the song that started it all - along with other youngsters who've become YouTube sensations with their hilarious video antics.

From swearing toddlers to biting babies, find out more below...

1. Super Bass By Sophia Grace Brownlee

Pint-sized pop stars Sophia Grace Brownlee, eight, and her five-year-old cousin Rosie Grace McClelland became overnight sensations for this heartfelt and high-energy rendition of Nicki Minaj's hit "Super Bass" on YouTube. The stirring rap performance won them a prime time slot on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

2. The Landlord

Starring a foul-mouthed, belligerent toddler, this video from comedy duo Will Ferrell and Adam McKay is one of the biggest viral hits ever to have hit the web. Created to launch their video website Funny Or Die, it features McKay's two-year-old daughter Pearl in the role of a cursing, beer-swilling landlord.

3. David After Dentist

This YouTube footage of a seven-year-old boy coming to terms with the effects of anesthesia after a trip to the dentist became the second-most viewed video of 2009, with the catchphrase "Is this real life?" sweeping the web.

David's father, who posted the footage, said: "He was so out of it. The staff was even laughing. This lasted for a few hours and he was fine. He even laughed at the video that night."

4. Talking Twin Babies

17-month-old twins Sam and Ren became a YouTube hit earlier this year, after the below video surfaced of them engaged in an intense and lengthy discussion of absolute gibberish.

The nappy-clad conversation - accompanied by the odd leg kick and belly laugh - has amassed nearly 43 million views so far, with users vying for potential translations of the riveting tatatatatata dialogue...

5. Charlie Bit My Finger – Again!

With over 380 million hits, this 2007 footage of two young brothers remains one of the most viewed YouTube videos of all time.

The boys' father who uploaded the clip said: "This was just one of those moments when I had the video camera out because the boys were being fun and they provided something really very funny."
