These beautiful photos of a grandfather doing his wife’s hair just went viral

Maybe it’s the fact that over 40% of marriages now end in divorce, but there’s something about elderly couples who still adore one another that makes us go a bit teary and weird.

“How have you done it?” we want to ask. “How can you possibly have been together for 50 years and still think the other person makes the world go round?”

Well, we might have (one of) the answers. The key to a long and happy marriage, it seems, might just be allowing your husband to fix your hair in times of need.

In a photo posted on Twitter by user Amy Pennington, an elderly man is seen carefully fixing curlers in his wife’s hair, while she snaps a mirror selfie.

Pennington wrote: “My grandma had surgery on her wrist and couldn’t do her own hair, so my grandpa did it for her. Cuteness overload.”

Because almost everyone in the world is a sucker for adorable grandparents, the picture quickly went viral, with almost 100,000 retweets and 210,000 favourites at the time of writing. Cuteness overload indeed.
