This is the moment Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi Deng sprang to his defence as he was assailed by a foam pie-throwing protester during an inquiry into phone hacking in central London.

Wendi did not hesitate as the attacker approached her husband, nimbly jumping to her feet and warding him off with an open-palmed slap. The quick-thinking action earnt her fame and admiration around the world, with social media fans dubbing her "tiger mother" and "charlie's angel." See the moment unfold in the video below.
