From the no-sex clause to the Jennifer Salad, things we learnt from the Friends reunion

After what has truly felt like an eternal wait, the Friends reunion has finally happened (albeit minus Chandler aka Matthew Perry), and unsurprisingly, it made for some compulsive viewing.

No, Ross and Rachel didn’t get married on screen, and no, we didn’t get to see what Monica and Chandler’s twin babies look like now.

But we did learn an awful lot about what life was like behind the scenes during the making of the best sitcom to ever enter our lives.

From the truth about that ‘no sex’ contract clause, to the packed lunches Jennifer Aniston used to make for Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox, here’s everything we learnt about Friends from the reunion in honour of NBC producer James Burrows.

Friends

The no-sex clause

It’s long been rumoured that the cast were all given a no-sex clause in their contracts, to prevent any potential awkwardness. David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow put paid to that however, with Kudrow rubbishing the rumour and Schwimmer joking that had it been added, some contracts may have been broken…

The Jennifer Salad

Jennifer Aniston made lunch for Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow every single day for the entire 10 years the girls filmed Friends together. Talk about dedication to the packed lunch, eh? The lunches became so famous on-set, that Cox revealed they eventually came to be known as the ‘Jennifer Salad’. Though what she threw in there, we’re yet to discover.

Friends

They really were friends

They had great on-screen chemistry of course, but the gang revealed that behind the scenes they really were all as close as they seemed. Along with hanging out at each other’s houses to watch the show air each week, the cast also revealed that they’re group poker games ended up inspiring the episode The One With All The Poker.

They critiqued each other’s scenes

Again proving just how close they really were, Matt LeBlanc revealed that they’d all watch each other’s scenes and share feedback or ideas on how they could improve things. A technique Cox apparently picked up from Seinfeld.
