Widower eats breakfast sat next to his wife's picture every day since her death

Every morning 88-year-old widower George Travis from Louisiana, goes to the same diner and orders the same breakfast of bacon, two eggs and waffle, and saves a space for his late wife, Billy Mae Meeks. He even puts a picture of her next to him so he can always eat breakfast with her.

“I bring her everywhere I go. I never go anywhere without my precious wife,” says George who lost Billy Mae in July 2013.

Speaking about his wife who he spent nearly 50 years with, he said: She was a great love. A wonderful love.

Many customers who visit the same diner have asked George about why he sits with a picture and he will tell them his story of his love for his wife. Diners have also many times paid for his meals, as they are so touched by his story.

George met Billy Mae nearly 50 years ago after his friends set him up on a blind date, following the breakdown of his first marriage. While he says he doesn't tear up about her death anymore, he instead likes to think of her in heave, waiting for him.

After finishing his breakfast, he then continues his routine by heading to Billy Mae's grave and tidying it up every day, and then reading a prayer from the bible.

When asked what he missed most about his wife, he replied Everything.

I miss being able to put my arms around her. She was a great love and she expressed her love to me. She let me know that she was my girl.

I don't think she ever, ever made me feel like I was not wanted or not needed. I cherish the years that I had with her. If she could've lived just a little bit more I would've had 50 years with her.

George also suffered a heart attack recently. Thankfully he's doing well and just wants to get back to the diner to have breakfast with his Billy Mae.

You'll have to excuse us as we're going to go off a sob for while.
