Stylist Business Ambassadors: The Shortlist

A few months ago Stylist launched a search to find a Business Ambassador. Their job: to write a regular magazine column on how to achieve success in business, based on their experience; to speak at our Stylist Network events and generally inspire readers’ entrepreneurial spirit. Applicants needed to have started at least one successful business in the UK, and to be an enthusiastic, confident and business-conscious woman, able to offer inspiring, informed advice about entrepreneurship.

The response was overwhelming. Hundreds of women applied, all with a range and ingenuity of ideas and with a genuine commitment to help other women in the business arena. Even after weeks of deliberation it was hard to decide who should make our shortlist. But finally we can announce the final five...

CORINA KELLAM

Former journalist Corina Kellam, 29, founded Life History Books – an affordable memoir service – two years ago, after putting together a package of books as a surprise gift for her sister's wedding. Already, it spans five countries and works with a team of 32. She lives in Hove with her fiancé and step-son.

ANNIKA BOSANQUET

Annika Bosanquet, 37, founded Wrapology, a luxury wrapping and packaging service in 2001 with her brother, Tom. The market leader in luxury packaging, Wrapology has clients including Harrods and L'Oreal, and she now has 18 staff and offices in London, China and Europe. She lives in Bloomsbury with her partner and daughter.

SOPHIE CORNISH

Sophie Cornish, 45, co-founded notonthehighstreet.com, a website selling unique gifts, with her friend Holly Tucker. She has become a self-made millionare with the website, which has grown from £100,000 in 2006 to a £15 million turnover this year. She lives in London with her husband and children.

LAURA TENISON

Laura Tenison, 44, is founder of JoJo Maman Bébé, a site for chic maternity and baby products. Managing Director since 1993, she has transformed £50,000 capital into a £27 million business. She lives in London with her husband and two sons.

LARA MORGAN

Lara Morgan, 43, founded Pacific Direct, a toiletries and hotel amenties supplier. Her first business venture started with just £356 in 1991, she sold it for £20 million in 2008. She has since started Company Shortcuts, dedicated to helping entrepreneurs. She lives in Salisbury with her husband and daughters.
