Fancy a free flight to Iceland? Here's how to get your hands on tickets

Let's be honest: we all love a good freebie.

From ticking off a checklist of free activities to do in the capital, to bagging ourselves one of these long-haul flight perks, there's a certain joy to be had in getting something for nothing.

And if you class yourself as a freebie junkie, you're going to love WOW Air's latest offer: a free flight from the UK to Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik.

However, there's no such thing as a free lunch (or, in this offer, a free flight) and the complimentary tickets come with quite a catch: you have to permanently relocate to Iceland.

Which, let's be honest, might be no bad thing. Iceland is the scenic setting for Game of Thrones, home to rustic log cabins and one of the top 10 friendliest cities in the world.

The country was also named the third happiest place to live in the world in last year's World Happiness Report (for contrast, the UK lagged far behind in 23rd place).

A tiny country with a population of just 323,002 people, Iceland was described by WOW Air's CEO Skúli Mogensen as "welcoming", with Mogensen telling Travel and Leisure the airline were offering the free flights simply because they wanted to "show how hospital [sic] and welcoming Icelanders really are".

If you're sold on a move to Iceland, and want to bag your free ticket to do so, email MovingToIceland@wow.is with your booking reference, a photo of your passport page, and some evidence that you're moving (for example, a lease agreement or university acceptance letter). You also need to be a British citizen who is travelling before 1 October.

It's time to start living the Nordic dream...
