Take a holiday in your own city: 10 amazing Airbnb homes to rent in the UK's biggest cities all under £200

When the sun is shining, your suitcase is beckoning and work fatigue is beginning to set in, it can be all too tempting to get online and book yourself an exotic trip away.

But you really can enjoy a refreshing holiday without the need for travelling time, foreign currency and passports, by taking a trip within your own city.

Here are ten great Airbnb homes that would definitely tempt us away from our own four walls for a night (or two)...

Luxury on King's Road

Kings Road

It's a treat to be located right on Chelsea's King's Road, and even more so when you get to stay in such stylish, lofty digs. This two-bedroom, tastefully furnished apartment will stand you in good stead for when you return with a few too many shopping bags.

With a modern kitchen, huge king-sized bed and a lovely open plan reception room, it will be hard to tear yourself away after your stay - especially from the charming window seat, which seems like the perfect spot to while away the afternoon with a good book.

£120 a night for one room.

Comfort on Carnaby Street

This cosy studio flat, located in the heart of Soho, is a tranquil and chic setting which seems like the perfect place to come back to after a day out on London's busy streets.

Despite the plush bed linen, luxurious towels and classy wall hangings, our favourite bit of all is the seating by the window, where you can stare down at the hustle and bustle of London for hours from inside your peaceful sanctum.

£172 a night for the entire flat.

Shoreditch chic

Two double bedrooms, a huge open plan living space and enormous windows all help to make this unusual flat look like a real-life Pinterest board.

With some of the quirkiest wallpaper we've ever seen, a dreamy private roof terrace and an adorable pair of French bulldogs thrown into the mix, this converted loft in the heart of Shoreditch ticks all the right boxes for the perfect city escape.

£95 a night for one room.

Cool conversion near Brick Lane

Brick Lane
Beach hut

This industrial warehouse conversion, moments away from Brick Lane, is so cool it hurts. With masses of open plane living space, edgy art on the walls and a brand new walk in shower, this apartment beats staying in any hotel.

Best of all is the beach hut you sleep in, where you'll feel miles away from your everyday life - even if you only live minutes away.

£172 a night for the entire flat.

Luxe decadence just opposite Harrods

If you're going to spend all day in Harrods browsing designer goods, you might as well choose accommodation to match. This luxury flat, just across the road from the high-end designer store, has all the mod-cons you'd expect, from the elegant en-suite bathroom to the glossy fitted kitchen, which would make the dream backdrop for all the food Instagramming we'd do.

Best of all, the swanky bedroom has a Tempur mattress to soothe your back after a hard day's work.

£200 a night for one room.

A stone's throw from Hampstead Heath

A twenty minute drive from the centre of London, this three bedroom, tastefully decorated home is surrounded by greenery, and is moments from the vast expanse of Hampstead Heath; perfect for those who want to feel like they are in the countryside without being isolated from everything central London has to offer.

The huge amount of space on offer in the house, with four modern bathrooms and space to sleep up to six people, would make it the perfect location for families who want to spend some quality time together.

£150 a night for the entire house.

Rest and relaxation in the heart of Bristol

This apartment is fabulously situated in the Cotham area of Central Bristol and includes a lovely kitchen, bathroom and even a little dog named Enzo.

However, despite the great location of the apartment, it's hard to imagine that you'd want to do much exploring - or cooking - the minute you encountered that huge, cosy super-king-sized bed.

£50 a night for one room.

High-end design in Deansgate, Manchester

Exposed brickwork, steel pillars and a wonderfully inviting bubble bath combine to make this Manchester pied-à-terre a charming and unusual staycation location.

Plus, its great location and quick access to bars, clubs, theatres and restaurants means there's plenty to do during your stay. All we can think about is soaking in that glorious bath, though...

£99 a night for the entire flat.

Charming Edinburgh digs

Situated mere metres from Edinburgh Castle, the central location of this charming flat ensures there's plenty to do during the day and night.

However, you might find it hard dragging yourself away from the apartment's artful interiors, alluring alcove bed and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with treasures waiting to be discovered.

£100 a night for the entire flat.

Wonderful windmill in Liverpool

Who wouldn't want to stay in such unusual accommodation? The converted windmill, within easy reach of Liverpool, boasts five bedrooms and can host up to twelve guests at a time, so it would make the perfect weekend getaway for you and a group of friends.

The stylish interior has been modernised down to its polished kitchen and internet connection, but still retains its original charm and appeal with exposed brickwork, hanging lights and circular bedrooms.

£200 a night for the entire windmill.
