Hotel graffiti: subversive scrawling

While you may be content simply staying in a hotel room - and perhaps pilfering one or two of the toiletries - others want to make their mark in a more provocative manner.

For the past seven years, comedy writer and self-professed "hotel graffiti enthusiast" David Bussell has adorned hotel rooms he's stayed at across the world with a variety of tongue-in-cheek, surreal and comical messages. They include doodlings such as "Please No Baptising" above a sink and "Mirror Broken, Please See Estimated Face" stuck to a wall.

Londoner David's work can be found everywhere from Guatemala City to British Columbia. "I got the idea from a holiday in Paris back in the nineties when I stayed in a backpacker hostel and found travellers had been using the flipside of a tacky painting as a kind of secret bulletin board," the 37-year-old says, adding that "I've never had a hotel complain. I never leave something on show that won't rub right off."

Take a look at his own brand of graffiti art, below and let us know your thoughts on Twitter.
