It’s cold, it’s rainy and we want to jump on a flight and check in to the Jade Mountain resort in St Lucia. Its Sun Infinity Pool Sanctuaries are 2,000-sqft rooms with 270-degree views overlooking the Caribbean sea and the dramatic Pitons. Rooms have just one wall, which curves around the bathroom, bedroom and living space, leaving an entirely open front without windows or doors. Don’t worry – owner and architect Nick Troubetzkoy has utilised clever landscaping and elevated positioning so you can stride around starkers without anyone catching a glimpse.
At Jade Mountain, rooms aren’t called rooms – they are called sanctuaries and quite right, too: a typical Sun room has a large four-poster bed, vast walk-in shower/wet-room, a spa bath raised up high to afford bathers a spectacular view and two lounge areas, which work equally well for dining or sun bathing. But all this pales in comparison to the 900-sqft infinity pool – your own private infinity pool – which juts out of the hill side and looks out to ocean. Bask there with a glass of champagne and pretend you’re Beyoncé.
Five nights at Jade Mountain starts at £1,999 per person, including breakfast, private transfers and British Airways flights.
