I Want That Room

This week's I Want That Room comes with a suitably festive edge as we take a nose around the newly opened 24th ICEHOTEL in Swedish Lapland. Made from 1,800 tonnes of ice, this wintry work of art features a London Underground tube carriage (inspired by this year's 150th anniversary), a Frankenstein-esque science lab, pole-dancing polar bears and no less than 65 rooms created from snow, ice and "snice".

Created in collaboration with ice artists, a British film producer and street artists from Sweden and Brazil, the hotel showcases a wealth of eclectic design details including a large iced unicorn in a secret garden, a giant facial sculpture called "Narcissus" and an "It’s Alive" suite with a hidden button that triggers a light installation to flow across the room. And then there's the largest and most luxurious hotel suite, measuring almost 50m², with an en-suite sauna and heated relaxation area.

If you're done looking on in awe at the rooms, you can catch a glimpse of the elusive Aurora from the Northern Lights viewing balcony or go ice driving or husky sledging in the beautiful village of Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland, where ICEHOTEL is based. Grab a taster, below:
