50 fictional places you can visit in real life

When watching TV or a film, or reading a book, we like to feel as if we’ve been transported to the same location that the story takes place.

Even though that can’t actually happen, as a book or a movie can’t physically move us to another area in the world (unless, you know, the laws of physics have dramatically changed), there are ways to experience the fictional places we watch and read about.

While we can practically see your raised eyebrow through our computer screen, we really have discovered a way to travel to your favourite fictional geographical locations.

A new infographic created by JustTheFlight.co.uk offers a run-down on 50 places that feature in works of fiction but were, in actual fact, based on real-life places, i.e. you CAN visit the village Arendelle in Frozen, as it's based on a fjord called Nærøyfjord Finland. Yes, WE KNOW.

Other fictional places of interest include Bayside City - the town where the likes of Zack, Slater, Screech, Kelly and Lisa would have hung out. That's right, it's the place where Saved By The Bell was supposed to be set.

And speaking of teen programmes, another classic 90s show is also featured - Dawson's Creek. While James Van Der Beek and Katie Holmes filmed their love angst in Wilmington, North Carolina, the fictional Capeside is really meant to be located in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Let's just hope if we ever visit there we'd find our very own Pacey Witter.

But perhaps one of our favourite places we could visit is where JK Rowling's Harry Potter takes place. According to the infographic, the seven-part series takes place in Glencoe, which was the setting for the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Take a look at more places you could visit below. We're booking our flights as we type.
