Travel-blogging couple who earn six figures share their money-making tips

Undoubtedly the most popular fantasy career among the stylist.co.uk team and our readers has to be making a fortune for going on holiday.

Spurred on by the likes of the famous ‘Follow Me’ hand-holding couple and inspiring female travellers, it seems we all dream of ditching the daily grind to earn cash from impossibly glamorous and breathtaking holiday pictures.

And it’s a goal that appears tantalisingly close whenever a hit new blogger comes to our attention. The latest account to tempt us into booking a one-way ticket is Do You Travel, a blog and Instagram account run by a nomadic couple with more than 2.2 million followers – and six-figure earning potential.

It’s run by Jack Morris, 26, and Lauren Bullen, 24, who don’t accept less than $3,000 per photograph from brands clamouring to be associated with the pair's ridiculously attractive holiday snaps.

"Exact figures are hard to say because every job is different, but we won't do a post for less than $3,000 USD," Morris tells Cosmopolitan"I did a job for a phone company where I flew out for three days; there were two days filming and then I had to do five photos on Instagram, and that was $35,000."

Not bad is it?

The pair, who met in Fiji in March last year and already have 45 countries under their belt, also revealed the key tips and tricks that keeps them in the money – and that any aspiring travel blogger can follow.

  1. Ditch the Instagram filters. Do You Travel images are edited in Lightroom
  2. Be consistent. “I edit all my photos in the same kind of style,” Morris explains. “I also look at the grid and try to plan the next image to make sure it works well with the rest of my recent feed"
  3. Get up early. The couple shoot one hour after sunrise to capture the beauty of a setting without crowds of tourists
  4. Listen to the locals. The pair go by word of mouth, as well as Instagram and Pinterest, to learn about off-the-radar locations
  5. Invest in a tripod and timer remote. This is what Moris and Bullen use when they’re both in the same shot
  6. Stay authentic. If you are good enough to attract sponsorship from a brand, make it something you really support. "I only promote or post about the things I truly like or believe in, which is very important to me and why my posts resonate with so many," Morris says.
