Non-stop flights from the UK to Australia could be coming soon

A holiday to Australia could be about to become a whole lot more fuss-free with news that the first direct flights from the UK to Australia could be confirmed within weeks.

Qantas airlines has announced that it is in the process of settling negotiations with Perth airport that would allow a direct flight from London to Western Australia. The flights could become a reality thanks to the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which would be capable of making the 8,990 mile journey.

Alan Joyce, the chief executive of Qantas, confirmed that a decision was "imminent" from Perth airport, which would "allow us to fly routes that we could only imagine in the past."

It would make direct routes from Perth to London, as well as from Sydney to Chicago and Melbourne to Dallas to become a reality.

The flight still wouldn't exactly be an easy travelling feat at 14,470km, but the new high-tech planes would have plenty of snazzy new features to keep passengers as comfortable as possible.

It boasts bigger windows than a standard plane, as well as technology to make the planes quieter and journeys smoother. The planes also typically have a swish lighting system installed to simulate sunrise and help passengers avoid jet lag.

We assume a healthy stock of box sets and movies would be a given...

If the routes are approved the flights could go on sale by Christmas and would start from late 2017.
