Meet the couple who sold their house to fund an epic round-the-world honeymoon

In today's envy-inducing travel news, a British couple have quit their jobs, sold their home, and jetted off on an epic eight-month, round-the-world honeymoon.

Adam and Jodie Dobb, from Newark, Nottinghamshire, married in June 2015. Clearly not a couple to do things by halves, they promptly packed up their lives and set off on the adventure of a lifetime in November.

Jodie, 28, quit her job as a CAD technician, while Adam left his position as a senior architectural technician. The couple even sold their semi-detached house to fund the trip, which they estimate will cost them £25,000.

Jodie said that she and Adam, 36, had always wanted to travel, but that his architectural studies had always got in the way. "Our first conversation together involved discussing travelling," she told the Newark Advertiser. "We thought it would be a perfect opportunity for our honeymoon."

Now halfway through their trip, the couple have already stayed in 44 different places, and visited Dubai, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, the US, Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia.

And the ticked-off items on their bucket list are likely to inspire serious pangs of wanderlust: they've ridden horses at sunset in Argentina, visited the world-famous salt flats at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, and checked out the rollerbladers and bodybuilders of Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Jodie said: "For many people the thought of spending 24 hours a day with your other half would be a nightmare but Adam and I get on great, laugh lots and are very close."

She added: "There are times when we're tired, hungry and hot and get frustrated but we can both sense those moments so we give one another space and laugh about it later!'

The Dobbs are currently in Peru, and will soon move on to Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico.

Jodie said that the trip has strengthened their relationship and will prove to be a source of happy memories for years to come. "We'll certainly have lots of amazing memories to talk about going into the future – lots of laughs of moments of, 'can you remember when?'" she said. "We have a strong relationship anyway but I think having spent so much time together non-stop that, even after almost nine years, we've still learnt new things about one another which is great."
