The anti-selfie travel Instagram account we'd all love to be part of

Untitled-1.jpg

When we go on holiday, we'll embarrassingly attempt an awkward selfie that squeezes in our faces and a spectacular view.

You've probably seen plenty of these on your social media newsfeeds recently, as friends whisk off to holidays and honeymoons.

But one remarkable couple have an incredibly creative and romantic alternative to the selfie.

Instead of cramming his head into an image, Russian photographer Murad Osmann captures his fiancée, journalist and chief editor of Russian blog Begoody.ru Natalia Zakharova, holding his hand and leading the way.

It all started in winter 2011 when Zakharova grew tired and frustrated by Osmann's incessant photo clicking while travelling in Barcelona.

“Nataly was a bit annoyed that I was always taking pictures of everything, so she grabbed my hand and tried to pull me forward,” says Osmann. “That said it didn't stop me from doing photos while she was pulling me.”

With his girlfriend in hand and the hashtag #followmeto, Osmann logs his travels around the globe in dozens of locations from London to Hong Kong on his Instagram page which has now clocked up over 2million followers.

This year, the couple published a book of their best photographs titled Follow Me To and recently launched a behind-the-scenes Instagram account (@followmetraveller) which captures exactly how they take the images.

The fascinating posts (scroll down to see images) are full of insightful and amusing moments from their recent trip to India, where they had to tackle the busy streets of Delhi and hold back crowds at the Red Fort to get a shot without any people in it.

Zakharova wears traditional Indian dress for all of the pictures making the final photographs nothing short of spectacular.

Fashion is a huge part of the appeal of the 'Follow Me To' series, where Zakharova models gorgeous outfits often sourced from the destination they're capturing.

Behind the scenes...

And in case you're wondering what the stars of this series look like, see the creative couple below.
