What do you look for in a fantastic hotel? Delicious food, a stunning location, gorgeous architecture  - or perhaps unusual extras such as a generous wine cellar or a garden packed with lemon trees?

The truth is, the very finest establishments combine a little bit of all of these, and more.

Business Insider has pulled together the 25 best hotels in Europe, from Prague to Madrid, Tuscany and beyond.

In order to whittle down its shortlist, the magazine combined reviews and accolades from the public and high-end travel publications including Travel + Leisure's World's Best Hotel Awards, Condé Nast Traveler's Top 100 Hotels & Resorts and TripAdvisor's Top 25 Hotels In The World.

The final group of 25 hotels features just one London destination (The Connaught Hotel in Mayfair) and awards first place to the sumptuous Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace in Budapest.

Come take a look at a selection of ten luxury escapes that made the cut, below, and get set to infuse yourself with a potent dose of Monday wanderlust.
