This Japanese restaurant in London has covered its ceiling in cherry blossom

Another month, another pop up set to take over our Instagram feeds.

If you’ve already visited the gin hotel, and had ice cream for breakfast then here’s the next quirky London pop-up for your bucket list.

Japanese restaurant Roka, based in Fitzrovia, London is bringing all the joys of Spring inside courtesy of an installation of cherry blossom. The canopy of flowers will adorn the ceiling of its basement bar, Shochu Lounge, until June 7.

The flowers, known as sakura, are in bloom between March and early April in Japan, and prompt everyone to stop and bask in their natural beauty. This practice of appreciation is known as hanami.

And while we’re too late to visit Japan to marvel over the real blossom season, we’ve got the next best thing thanks to the Roka installation.

There’s also a new cocktail menu to complement the canopy. The Sakura Sour is made with peach and whisky, or there’s a sherry and plum-infused saké and whisky drink for fans of an Old Fashioned. If you’re feeling adventurous try the Kyuri Highball, made with rice shochu and soda.
