Happy Pride Parade, London!

The theme of this year’s Pride in the capital is Jubilee. It marks 50 years since the Stonewall riots of 1969 and the half century of activism that has brought us to where we are today.

Pride originally started out as a march for LGBTQ+ rights and, despite it evolving into a glorious and glittering celebration around the world, recent news proves how much still needs to be done to achieve this. Just last month, we learned that hate crime against the queer community is on the rise, and the story of a lesbian couple who were attacked on a London bus were just one horrific example of this.

London Pride: Billy Porter leads “protest and party” because he is what the world needs right now
