This new breed of SPF is perfect for people who usually hate sunscreen

Ditch the greasy sunscreen sticks and kick the chalky lotions to the wayside – these new SPFs are pretty revolutionary…

Rain or shine, slathering on the SPF before braving the day is essential. We’re not just saying that – ask any dermatologist in the business and they’ll agree.

But you can be forgiven for relegating the product to the back of your bathroom cupboard, because until now, many sunscreens haven’t exactly been comfortable or easy to wear. We’re talking ashy finishes, greasy T-Zones, forehead spots and pilling under make-up – sounds all too familiar, right?

That’s where SPF face mists come in. These new products have completely changed the game, because they’re so easy to use and can be topped up throughout the day with minimum fuss.

The clever texture is something to shout about, too. Unlike most SPFs, which can leave you with thick white tidemarks under your chin or chalky eyebrows, SPF mists are lighter than air. Some are even completely clear, so there’s no need to rub your face red raw just to blend it in in the morning – simply spritz on and you’re good to go.

More good news: if you tend to swerve SPF because you’re prone to breakouts, most SPF mist formulas are non-comedogenic, which means they won’t block your pores and cause a spot eruption.

They’re also seriously gentle on sensitive skin – but don’t underestimate their ability to shield your skin from UVA and UVB. SPF mists boast a broad filtering system that work to deflect harmful rays, thus preventing fine lines and pesky pigmentation patches, as well as ingredients to keep pollutants at bay and thirsty skin comfortably moisturised throughout the day.

The best part, though? They can even be applied over make-up without smudging – a huge yes to convenience. If you only add one face mist to your skincare arsenal this spring, make it an SPF mist.

Here are five of our favourites…

Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive Face Sun Screen Mist SPF 50

As well as UVA and UVB protection, this clever clear sunscreen boasts vitamin E to shield against pollution. It absorbs in seconds and doesn’t leave a greasy film on top of skin like some other SPFs.
