19 incredible vegan beauty products you need to try

It’s never been easier to shop ethically, but the choice can be overwhelming. Never fear: we’ve rounded up the (soya) cream of the crop for you vegan beauty junkies…

I’ve been vegan for over a year, and despite making all the dietary changes speedily, I found vegan beauty a bit of a minefield. Learning that ‘cruelty free’ didn’t necessarily mean vegan and vice versa was a lot to get my head around, but I’ve finally found some favourites that have no animal derivatives or animal testing.

The fact that I am a fully-fledged makeup fanatic, skincare super fan and all-round beauty obsessive, keeping my lust for beauty at bay is no easy feat. Luckily, NPD reported that in the past 12 months alone, vegan beauty sales have shot up by a mammoth 38%, and there’s even more new launches right around the corner.

Whether you’re a card-carrying vegan, or just want to be more conscious about your routine, we’ve got something for you…

B. Beauty Matte Bronzer in Medium

This B.Beauty wonder gives a non-shimmery lightweight flush of colour, and it’s as blendable as it is believable. Sweep across your cheekbones and brow for a sun-kissed, tropical vibe. B. Beauty itself has an incredible range of vegan products that won’t break the bank, so it’s the perfect place to start.

Better Than Sex Too Faced Waterproof Mascara

Layer on this megawatt mascara for lashes that won’t quit. Curling and lengthening, the waterproof version of this cult formula will keep your lashes looking (fl)utterly fabulous come rain, shine or just summer on the tube.

The Body Shop Clearly Glossing Strawberry Shampoo

Scented like a Wimbledon picnic, this strawberry glossing shampoo by The Body Shop is silky hair in a bottle. It left my hair smooth and seriously shiny, without being weighed down. It’s made with community trade Aloe Vera from Mexico, is silicone free and of course is 100% vegan.

IGK Low Key Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub

Perfect for purging impurities, this scrub by IGK is the ideal tool for pollution and product satiated scalps. Just add a little water to lather up, and the walnut shell powder gets to work cleansing and rebalancing whilst apple cider vinegar seals your cuticles, and peppermint oil calms and refreshes. A total treat for lacklustre locks.

Mr. Smith Volumising Conditioner

From the sleek monochrome packaging, to the sumptuous scent, Mr. Smith has got it right when it comes to pure indulgence in hair care. My usual fine, limp locks were notably thicker and full of bounce after using this volumising wonder.

Isla Apothecary Refine and Radiate Beautifying Face Mask

This mix-your-own powder mask from Isla Apothecary is the perfect addition to your self-care Sunday ritual. Combine a teaspoon of the coconut milk, sandalwood and turmeric infused powder with a little water to make your bespoke soothing skin saviour.

Isle of Paradise Dark Self-Tanning Water

Colour correcting and packed with hydrating coconut, avocado and chai seed oils, this is a deep natural glow without streaks or any tell-tale biscuit smells. The organic tanning actives deeply nourish, whilst the Hyper Violet complex brightens your skin, leaving you bronzed to perfection.

So Eco Eye Brush Kit

Not only is this brand vegan and cruelty free, but they are saving the planet one brush at a time with their eco-conscious attitude. From using corn starch instead of plastic packaging, to animal friendly brush heads, every green angle has been carefully considered. This eye set applies shadow like a dream, but the whole brush range is a fabulous foundation for beauty beginners and pros alike.

Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 30

This sun saviour by Glossier is exactly what it says on the tin. The seriously light weight formula is a world away from the thick and creamy sunblocks of the past. Pop on after moisturiser and before makeup for a shot of SPF30 that melts seamlessly into any complexion with absolutely no greasy residue.

Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer

One of my all-time favourite products, I practically jumped for joy when I discovered Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow primer is completely vegan. It’s like a candlelit glow, bottled. It gives the skin an unrivalled glitter-free gleam, that almost radiates from within. Mix with your foundation for an extra shot of subtle shimmer.

Bare Minerals barePRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation SPF 20

This exciting launch from BareMinerals is every girl’s day-to-night skin saviour; it’s breathable yet full coverage, making this multi-function foundation a summer superhero. The addition of SPF 20 is a welcome bonus, though don’t skip a separate SPF first. Who knew it was possible to fall for a foundation?

Hourglass Arch Brow Volumising Fiber Gel

Hourglass’s products are consistently lauded for their high quality and decadent packaging, and this is no exception. The tinted gel is infused with micro fibres for a flawlessly full finish, and it comes in six blendable shades.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Pressed Powder with brush

This clay press powder by Tarte is an invisible wonder that absorbs excess oil and freshens complexions without any chalky residue.

Sukin Facial Moisturiser

The perfect all-rounder, this gentle, easily absorbed moisturiser from Sukin is the perfect base for makeup or being fiercely fresh-faced. The combination of Rosehip and Avocado oils hydrate, whilst Aloe Vera refreshes the skin. Vitamin E helps maintain the skin’s moisture barrier, leaving it nourished and supple in the most natural way.

Kat Von D Ink Liner Liquid Eyeliner in ‘Trooper’

Being a die-hard fan of a cat eye, a fool proof jet black liner is always on my wish list. Luckily Kat Von D knows what the people want, and this highly pigmented liquid liner with the perfect needle-fine tip is every lashline’s new BFF.

MEMI Eyeshadow Palette in Creative Control

Perfect pigments, shades for days and proudly vegan, this amazing new shadow palette by cruelty free makeup brand MEMI is a revolution in colour and longevity. It rivals all of the cult eye-shadow offerings on the market and each pigmented pick in this palette is a wearable, durable dream that will last from desk ‘til dusk.

Dr.PAWPAW Tinted Peach Pink Balm

More than your basic balm, this is a tinted wonder salve that soothes and hydrates for your best lips ever. Dab on a parched pout for a subtle coral hit, that isn’t sticky or glossy (read: no hair-stuck-on-lips moments).

Alchemy Oils Eyebrow Remedy

If your brows aren’t as full as you’d like, try thus. I use it to really pump up the volume when I’m suffering from serious eyebrow envy and it leaves my brows fuller and glossier.

The Body Shop Banana Body Yogurt

Hate how long it takes to lotion up? The ‘body yogurts’ from The Body Shop might be a game changer for you. They dry in a matter of seconds without much rubbing, leaving skin scented, smooth and seriously supple. The limited-edition banana scent is launching online and in store on 1st July, and is definitely my pick of the bunch.
