Charlotte Tilbury’s new range of lipsticks pays homage to one of fashion’s favourite eras.
Inspiration for Charlotte Tilbury’s make-up comes from a variety of sources: Japanese calligraphy, the light in Ibiza and the Queen have all been influences in the past. But the latest muses for the MBE-awarded make-up artist are straight out of the fashion world.
The Icons
“When I started out in the early Nineties, I have such incredible memories of being towered over by these gorgeous beauties,” Tilbury tells Stylist of the era’s supermodels.
“From Linda [Evangelista], Cindy [Crawford] and Claudia [Schiffer] to Helena [Christensen], Naomi [Campbell] and Kate [Moss], they represent one of the most iconic eras in fashion and beauty; one that was so cool, so chic and so timeless.”
With a tonal colour palette, gently smoked eyes and a purposefully lined lip, the Nineties model aesthetic is one Tilbury dubs “the LBD of make-up”.
The Update
Tilbury’s own interpretation of the Nineties lip comes in the form of three muted browns: Super Model, Super Sexy and Super Nineties. The trio will be added to the popular Matte Revolution range, which is already 17 shades strong.
“They will make you feel empowered in an instant,” Tilbury says. “They work with your skintone and natural lip colour to suit everyone at every age.”
It might seem a bold claim, but if anyone knows how to mastermind a lip product that women love, it’s Tilbury. Her Pillow Talk lipstick and liner are among the bestselling of all time, with one sold every two minutes.
The new limited-edition shades use the same formula, including 3D ‘glowing’ pigments to give the illusion of plumpness and a wearable matte finish.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Supermodel Lipsticks, £24 each, are available to buy from 7 February on charlottetilbury.com
