Divorce drives women to have 'intimate' surgery

Published

A rise in divorce has been blamed for an increasing number of women undergoing cosmetic surgery in more intimate areas.

The number of women undergoing pubic liposculpture, vaginal tightening, labia reduction and reconstruction of the hymen has doubled in the last five years in Spain.

Experts say marital break-ups cause women to grow concerned about the state of play downstairs, from both a health and aesthetic perspective.

The findings were unveiled at the 10th Conference of the Spanish Society of Medicine for Anti-ageing and Longevity, where surgeons also revealed young women as those most likely to undergo postnatal corrective surgery and women between 50 and 60 as most likely to seek anti-ageing surgery.
