If you’re unfamiliar, you essentially wrap your strands around the silky swimming pool noodle-looking contraption and wake up with tonged-looking curls. The fact that they’re silk helps to minimise friction and prevent breakages too.

I start by using a hair claw to keep the curling rod in place in the centre. Divide your hair down the middle at the back of the head. Split each of these sections again into two, so you have four in total. Then twist both sections on each side around in opposite directions (it sounds complicated, but you’ll pick it up quickly). Use a scrunchie on ends to keep everything in place, remove your clip, and you’re good to go.

The first time around, I made the mistake of just wrapping one section from each side around, and the results were odd, to say the least. So it’s important to make sure you have four sections in total before you start – don’t make the same mistake as me.
