How to style mid-length hair

How exactly should mid-length hair be styled this season? “I personally love a smooth, bouncy blow-dry,” says Moodie. “I would first use Pureology’s Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Treatment Spray, £31.20, layer it with Style + Protect Instant Levitation Volume Mist, £31.99, and then use a large round brush to achieve the required volume.”

You can also try a more textured look by adding some salt spray. “Spray it into the hair to create defined waves, then use the ghd Curve Soft Curl Tong, £149, paired with Hair by Sam McKnight Modern Hairspray, £24, spritzed onto each section,” Moodie explains.

“I find it’s best to wrap random sections of hair around the barrel of the iron for a few seconds, and then once you’re finished, you can use your fingers to brush the waves out for a cool, textured finish.”

Or if you want to make like Jenna Coleman and do a relaxed up-do (pictured top and below), start with textured hair. “I love Hair by Sam McKnight Easy Up-Do Texture Spray, £27, to prep the hair as it gives some grip, making it easier to style,” says Moodie.

Tie hair into a low ponytail, leaving the front sections loose, and then use a hair tong to add texture and movement into them.
