Japanese workers ordered to get identical hair-cuts

Published

Staff in a Japanese construction company have been ordered to get the same haircut, as part of a post-Fukushima bid to reduce power consumption.

Maeda Corp has suggested 2,700 of its employees submit to an identikit snip – men a short-back-and-sides but longer on top and women a short bob with a fringe. Spokesman Chizuru Inoue told The Telegraph, “Our company is keen on protecting the environment and we encourage our staff to adopt many environmentally friendly actions. We believe that if people have short hair they do not need to use their hairdryers for so long and they will use less water. If all our staff do this, it may save a lot of power.”

Inoue also thinks the cuts would keep hair neat at work.
