Beauty genius: Revolutionary make-up paper applicators

Published

Wear make-up? You should probably know about these niche little beauties.

US firm Mai Couture has combined the practicality of beauty blotting papers with staple make-up products to create powder papiers that hold foundation, blusher and highlighter.

Each beauty pack contains 50 sheets that are used in a simple press and roll motion to not only remove excess oil, but also apply foundation, blush and highlighter, as well as add colour to lips and eyelids.

Paraben and talc-free, the papers are theoretically more hygienic than traditional beauty products as there are no sponges or brushes involved in the application and each sheet is thrown away after one use.

The sleek gold packets are lightweight and can replace bulky plastic bottles that women often carry around daily in make-up bags for on-the-go application.

Mai Tran, the founder of the brand, is a former make-up artist and fashion designer. She told Local Spotter that she was inspired to develop the easy-to-use product by speaking to women who never used make-up.

"The challenge is developing a product that actually can perform," she added. "Everyone’s first initial thought is, how are you going to put make-up on paper? Is it going to be blotchy? And, it was a big challenge in getting the formula correct."
