Meet the Chanel robots

Published

Meet the Chanel robots - the protagonists of a daring and uber-creative beauty campaign that's causing a sensation over at Selfridges London.

The robots, which are all made from individual pieces of make-up, are the brainchild of Peter Philips, the creative director at Chanel.

"A few years ago I made these little robots, that were part of a head piece I created for a tribal make-up shooting … that’s where the idea first came from," he said. "I then had the chance to play with these characters and do an animation, that’s how my little robots came to life."

The make-up robots can fly, jump and strike a pose - and all five play starring roles in an animated film about Chanel make-up titled Here Comes The Beauty Pack, which can be viewed on the Chanel website here.

Joanna McGarry, Stylist's Beauty Director, said, “Trust Peter Philips to come up with a totally unique way to celebrate Chanel beauty. He continually manages to fuse desirability and technology in make-up like no one else can.”

To celebrate the animation, Selfridges London has dedicated two windows to the robots, from today (30 June). Devoted fans can also head inside the store to the Chanel counter where a robot animation is on display, and you can choose your favourite shade of lipstick or eye palette that were used to make the robots.
