So far this season nails have been fairly minimal - until The Blonds went completely against the grain

If we’ve learnt anything from being backstage at various shows throughout New York Fashion Week it’s that nails next season are going to be minimal. But, as always, there’s an exception to the rule and that exception was showcased at The Blonds show on Saturday night.

The fashion house collaborated with Disney for a seriously impressive villains-inspired collection, where they paid homage to everyone’s favourite bad guys. Everybody from Cruella de Vil, Ursula, Maleficent and Snow White’s Evil Queen were referenced and every minute detail was seriously considered: including the nails.

Speaking backstage, Jan Arnold, co-founder of nail brand CND said, “The nails took around 500 hours from start to finish,” which included initial conversations with The Blonds team and the time it took to sculpt, design and add the final, and arguably most important, details to each individual nail.

The CND team’s imaginations were well and truly left to run suitably wild, too. There were Ursula-esque tentacles, Cruella’s nails had Dalmatian spots with red Swarovski crystals, evil green flames and horns were crafted for Maleficent while the Evil Queen had shards of broken glass mirrors.

In keeping with the theme of the show, the nails were (obviously) stiletto-shaped – because, after all, everybody knows the baddie always has the longest, pointiest nails.
