The iconic British make-up artist is bringing her popular beauty collection to UK soil for a limited time only - with a spectacular twist.
When Pat McGrath, probably the most revered make-up artists of our time, launched her groundbreaking cosmetics collection Pat McGrath Labs in 2015, make-up as we knew it was forever changed.
Over the years, the products have grown a reputation to match that of their creator, but have mainly been shoppable in the US (where McGrath has set up her base for most of her career), with only a small selection available globally via Net-A-Porter.
From the dazzling Gold 001 pigment (packaged in sequins and debuted on models via Instagram) to the richly pigmented eyeshadow palettes, the entire product range has been coveted by those not on American soil. But we no longer need to resort to smuggling the goods - the British make-up artist is bringing it all back home to Selfridge’s Oxford Street store.
And it won’t just be at a standard make-up counter. McGrath, who is known as Mother among supermodels, is bringing a full “Mothership” takeover to Selfridge’s Corner Shop. It will occupy the space for three months, making it the first and only Europe site to house the entire cult collection plus limited edition and new releases.
With the drop comes McGrath’s appointment as the department store’s Special Guest Editor, which will involve her own curated redesign of the store’s 24 windows and limited-edition designer collaborations with Valentino, Prada, Comme des Garçons, Manolo Blahnik, Versace and more.
“Selfridges to me is an iconic London landmark; the epitome of luxury that is always finding new ways to excite and intrigue its customers,” says McGrath about the launch. “ It has been the most divine experience to collaborate with Selfridges on this incredible campaign and have the opportunity to share my vision throughout the store. The windows, the event, The Mothership… it’s going to be major.”
