The sun has finally emerged – and everyone has ice cream on the brain. According to a new study, it's by far the most popular food to photograph on Instagram, ahead of pizza, sushi and brunch. And with impeccable timing, beauty brand MAC has announced the launch of a new ice cream-inspired make-up range.

Dubbed ‘Soft Serve’, the collection (main picture, above) consists of 12 long-lasting, creamy eyeshadows in rich and wearable pastel hues: warm peach, deep chocolate and zingy mint (£16 each). There are also six brightly coloured eyebrow pencils (£14), which may be slightly too kooky for normal life, but hey, festival season’s coming.

The range doesn't hit the shops until June, so click below to feast on these ice cream-inspired beauty buys while you wait. Your face will be so Instagrammable.

  • Givenchy Le Prisme Visage Mat Soft Compact Face Powder in Pastel Tulle

Don’t be alarmed at the thought of sweeping ice-cream shades over your skin. The pastel powders in this satisfyingly snappy compact combine to reduce redness and create a luminous, matte finish.

  • Emma Lomax Festival SOS Kit

Of course, you could just chuck a bottle of Batiste and a pot of glitter into your rucksack and be done with it. But for those who like to do festivals with a bit more glamour, this embroidered wipe-clean kit has everything you need, from a poncho to a torch, dry shampoo, glow sticks, plasters and earring backs (genius).

  • Ciate Mint Choc Pot Fragranced Nail Polish Remover

Mint chocolate ice cream smells much nicer than standard remover, so it’s not surprising that this cult buy sold out almost everywhere when it was first released. Enriched with marula oil and vitamins B5 and E, the non-drying formula will leave your nails nourished and your sweet tooth sated (maybe).

  • EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet

Enriched with vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil, these handy lip balm pods will keep your lips soothed and chap-free during the summer months. This one tastes just like strawberry sorbet, which is always a plus.

  • Body Shop Mango Body Sorbet

The beauty world loves a sorbet, doesn't it? This is actually a cooling body moisturiser, with an uber-light, fast-absorbing texture and a mouth-watering tropical scent. Ideal after a day in the sun.

  • The Library of Fragrance Vanilla Ice Cream Eau de Toilette

Colognes aren't just for men. In fact, they're perfect for hot weather, as they're lighter and fresher than your regular eau de parfum. The scent in this chic little bottle from The Library of Fragrance is sweet, warm and inviting.

  • Yves Saint Laurent Dessin Du Regard Waterproof Eye Liner

The colour of bubblegum ice cream and summer seas, this zingy, long-lasting eyeliner from YSL is as gorgeous on the outside as it is on the inside. Work a modern Elizabeth-Taylor-as-Cleopatra vibe with a feline flick above your top lashes.

  • Bourjois Aqua Blush

When it's scorching hot outside, heavy powder blush just looks and feels a bit weird. This fresh, fluid gel blush, in four fruity sorbet shades, blends seamlessly into skin for an uber-natural finish.

  • Ice lolly compact mirror

You might not have visited Claire's Accessories since you were 12, but this little compact mirror is brilliant: not only does it look like a glittery ice lolly, but the lolly stick is actually a COMB. Brilliant, we tell you.

  • Figs & Rouge Vanilla Pistachio Hand Cream

Pistachio is the sophisticated elder cousin of the ice-cream family: the quietly elegant one who knows a lot about French cinema and dresses in Céline. This hand cream won't make you that classy, but it might help.
