Stylist live Facebook debate; representing race in beauty

Published

Why is it that whiteness is still considered the default setting in the beauty industry? And what can be done do combat it?

With Stylist exploring how far has the beauty world really come in representing ethnicity this week, we hosted a live Facebook debate on the issue.

We were joined by writer Reni Eddo-Lodge (who wrote our article 'beauty doesn't just come in shade pale') and Stylist associate editor Joanna McGarry in a live chat to answer your questions on in the beauty industry; what's wrong with the situation as it stands, the brands and bloggers doing it right and how we can build a better, more representative future that speaks to all women.

Over the course of one very busy hour, Jo and Reni chatted to you, our readers, as you made your voices heard in host of questions, opinions and suggestions. Scroll down to read a transcript from the chat or email faceofbeauty@stylist.co.uk with any comments or ideas you may have on the topic.
