Singer Halsey used her latest beauty trend to make an LGBTQ+ statement at the Video Music Awards 2019, and we absoutely love it.
We really don’t need another reason to be obsessed with Halsey, but she’s just given us one anyway. Never afraid to use her platform to support the issues she cares about, the singer recently spoke out about breaking the ongoing stigma around women’s body hair, those Victoria’s Secret’s transphobic comments and the issues surrounding women’s fertility.
Now, Halsey’s attendance at the VMAs on Monday (26 August) has got Twitter talking once more. And it’s mostly to do with her statement hair.
Halsey, who is known as being a bit of a hair colour chameleon, arrived on the red carpet with rainbow roots. Her long, jet black hair was parted in the centre, and the roots were chalked with the colours of the LGBTQ+ flag. As Halsey openly stands up for LGBTQ+ rights, it was a statement style with a positive message. The look was created by celebrity hairstylist Florido, using Dove products and GHD tools.
This isn’t the first time that Halsey has used the rainbow flag colours in her beauty look. Three weeks ago the star shared a photo on Instagram which showed her posing with rainbow painted bangs.
Speaking of bold hair statements, Princess Beatrice recently sparked a trend by wearing her hair in a glitter parting. And Billie Eilish’s neon green dye job made everyone feel a bit braver at their next hair appointment.
We can’t wait to see what political statement Halsey makes with her next beauty look.
