A night of old fashioned glamour

Published

If you hadn’t noticed, Twenties nostalgia is prevalent right now, as architecture, fashion and film all take inspiration from the age of opulence and art deco. Now Stylist readers are invited to attend an exclusive Twenties-themed event at London’s Nightjar on 4 June, to celebrate Lisa Jewell’s new novel.

Before I Met You is a captivating read, powerfully evoking the hedonistic spirit of a post-war age London, tapping into both Twenties and Nineties London to tell the poignant story of Arlette, protagonist Betty’s grandmother, as Betty pieces together her own life and unravels Arlette’s.

The author will deliver a talk on her inspirations for the novel, and the speakeasy-style bar Nightjar is the perfect backdrop for the evening, serving vintage spirits in a decadent setting of mirrored and glass panelling and soft leather banquettes.

The event takes place on 4 June, 6.30-9pm, and tickets cost £15 and include two cocktails, canapés, a goodie bag featuring an exclusive Cowshed for Liberty Cow Pat Hand Cream and a free copy of Before I Met You.
